Pilates

Pilates is a form of exercise that emphasizes posture, flexibility, coordination and strength, with an increased awareness of breathing patterns. Specific exercises and movements can be modified to fit each person’s capabilities, made easier or more challenging with some simple adjustments. These characteristics also make Pilates tremendously beneficial to physical therapy at Viverant.

Most of us have small flaws in our movement mechanics that can put too much stress or strain on one area of the body while leaving some muscle groups weak or underdeveloped. Over time, the resulting muscular imbalances can lead to pain, tightness, weakness and even injury. Your Viverant Physical Therapist may use Pilates in your personalized plan of care to help you build stronger core muscles and develop movement patterns that help release stiffness, correct flaws in posture and movement mechanics, and build strength and stability while preventing future injuries.

Pilates treatment at Viverant

Pilates can be used as part of a Physical Therapy care plan, and one-on-one Pilates sessions with a Viverant Physical Therapist or Clinical Performance Coach are also available on a self-pay basis.
