Minnesota Baseball Academy

Minnesota Baseball Academy was started in 2003 by Adam Barta and John Anderson in order to give kids an opportunity to compete on a level playing field with warm weather states. By starting small and working with kids seven days a week, Barta and Anderson graduated some of Minnesota’s most decorated prep baseball players including: Joe Loftus (Vanderbilt), Madison Boer (Oregon), Justin Gominsky (Minnesota), Chase Hentges (KC Royals) and many more.

Programs including one on one lessons, group training, coaches clinics, position specific camps, college showcases and Recruiting Profiles, Minnesota Baseball Academy offers everything a baseball player needs to get better. But perhaps what Minnesota Baseball Academy is most well known for is their national traveling teams – the Minnesota Blizzard. The Blizzard, which have teams ranging from 10u through 18u, play a full fall league schedule and travel nationwide to compete against the top teams in the United States. Since 2003, the Minnesota Blizzard have won 14 tournament titles and placed in the top 4 almost 40 times.

But teaching baseball skills isn’t the only thing Barta and Anderson do for their players. They teach that attitude, effort and the importance of preparation is what makes great baseball players and more importantly – great people. The lessons learned at Minnesota Baseball Academy go past the lines and into the real world. MBA lives by that mission statement and follows these ten simple rules of baseball and life.

  1. Acceptance of Responsibility – winners and losers part company here
  2. Loyalty
  3. Class – winning and losing
  4. Mission Statement – Control what you can control – on and off the field: Attitude – Effort – Preparation
  5. Synergism – team chemistry; the total is greater than the sum of it’s parts
  6. Heightened Program Awareness – Every person in and around the program matters
  7. Transferable Trust – Confidence
  8. Everything Counts
  9. Body Language – that says you do or do not belong
