Tips to a Healthy Holiday

The holidays are a time for celebration with family, friends, and of course, food! Unfortunately, it is also a time when many struggle with over-eating and weight gain.

Beat temptation with these five strategies for healthy holiday eating:

  1. Have a light, healthy snack before attending the festivities to avoid over-eating.
  2. Make sure there are more healthy foods than junk foods on your plate.
  3. Eat until you’re satisfied, not until you’re full.
  4. Split desserts between two people.
  5. When it comes to alcohol at your holiday soirees, limit your drinks and be sure to mix in waters before, during, and after the evening to stay hydrated.

Give these cute and festive Strawberry Santa snacks a try at your next holiday get-together:

Santa Strawberries

Ingredients:

  • 1 dozen strawberries
  • 1 cup whipped cream
  • Handful of chocolate sprinkles

Directions:

  1. Cut the tips off your strawberries, but save them!
  2. Spoon about 1 Tbsp of whipped cream between the strawberry base and the strawberry tip/hat
  3. Add a small dab of whipped cream to the tip of the hat to make a pom-pom
  4. Use two small chocolate chips for the eyes
  5. Add whipped cream buttons using a tooth pick
