Barry Griffith, MPT, OCS, Cert. SMT

Physical Therapist

“I believe every individual person I treat
is just that: individual. Finding elements specific to each person that work well for them is paramount to a person’s recovery, restoring their functional movement and returning them to their activities.”

Upper and lower extremity injuries, and sport-specific return to function:

  • Shoulder, scapular–thoracic and throwing dysfunctions
  • Foot, ankle, knee, hip biomechanics, injuries:
    • Alpine and nordic skiing, gymnastics, diving and dance
  • Running, triathlon, marathon:
    • Running and swim mechanics, bike-fit analysis
    • Custom orthotics fabrication and footwear
  • Golf specific injury assessment, swing mechanics restoration
    • FitGolf performance assessment–trained
  • Spine and rib dysfunctions
  • Trigger point dry needling (TDN)

  • St. Catherine University: Master of Physical Therapy
  • University of Colorado: Bachelor of English

Having orthopedic experience since 1999, Barry feels that too often therapy is unsuccessful because the focus is not on the underlying problem. His approach is centered on assessing and restoring the patient’s faulty mechanical patterns that lead to the true underlying cause of tissue injury, pain, and the loss of power and mobility during their activities.

Barry has a broad personal background in sports, including time as an internationally-ranked (FIS) Alpine Ski racer, all-state gymnast, diver, and multi-race marathon runner. He has coached gymnastics, ski racing and diving, and was physical therapist to women’s Olympic and World Cup US Ski Team members.  He enjoys working with persons of all ages and skill levels from non-athletes to professionals to return them to the activities they love.

Beyond Viverant, Barry enjoys a wide variety of outdoor activities, and most of all spending time with his wife
and son.
